LU Pride is a non-profit LGBTQ+ organization that was established in 2010 in cooperation with COC Leiden and Leiden University. Originally called Leidsche Ganymedes Borrel, the foundation changed its name into Leiden University Pride in 2014. The foundation has the following aims:
- bring together individuals from the LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, etc.) community and their allies who feel connected to Leiden University;
- contribute to the enrichment and diversity of the university’s community and affiliated activities;
- promote the safety and inclusion of LGBTQ+ people in The Netherlands, as well as in other parts of the world.
The foundation facilitates this by organizing (among other things) lectures, social events, movie nights, and meetings.
